Multigen Goldendoodles
Multigen Goldendoodles are a generation of Goldendoodles whose lineage consists of Goldendoodles. In tracing their ancestry, one would need to look back several generations to find the Poodles or Golden Retrievers. Many breeders favor Multigen Goldendoodles for their genetic diversity and undeniable charm, recognizing the advantages they bring in terms of genetic variation and their inherent endearing qualities
Temperament & Personality
Multigenerational Goldendoodles possess a wonderful blend of the Golden Retriever’s affectionate demeanor and amiable nature, complemented by the exceptional intelligence characteristic of the Poodle.
Describing Goldendoodles often includes terms like friendly, affectionate, outgoing, and highly intelligent. When appropriately socialized from an early age, they establish great rapport with children. Furthermore, their innate ability to befriend everyone they encounter makes them excellent companions suitable for almost any household.
Types of Coats
Multigenerational Goldendoodles can manifest one of three coat types: straight, wavy, or curly.
Curly coats are often favored for their minimal shedding, making them an ideal choice for allergy sufferers. However, they are more susceptible to matting despite their low shedding tendencies.
Conversely, straight-coated Goldendoodles typically resemble their Golden Retriever lineage, possessing a shedding undercoat but shedding less than their purebred Retriever ancestors.
Lastly, wavy-coated Goldendoodles fall between straight and curly varieties. They usually have easier maintenance, experiencing fewer tangles compared to curly coats, yet they might retain an undercoat.”
Size
Here, we breed Standard Doodles. Standard Doodles typically range in weight from 50 to 90 pounds, with heights* varying between 20 to 26 inches. They reach full maturity between 12.5 to 16 months of age.
*A dog’s height is measured from their withers, which is the highest part of their shoulder blades
Grooming
Grooming Doodles can be quite a sensitive subject due to their high-maintenance needs!
Here are some essential tips and steps to ensure proper care:
- Daily brushing with a high-quality brush.
- Trimming nails weekly.
- Scheduled hair and ear hair trimming every 4-8 weeks.
- Bathing as needed.
- Regular ear cleaning.
- Maintaining oral hygiene
Energy Levels
Doodles of all generations are inherently active dogs. They thrive on various activities, both indoors and outdoors. Alongside physical stimulation, mental engagement is crucial for their well-being. Offering these activities helps your dog release pent-up energy, reducing the likelihood of undesirable behaviors.
Training
Owning a Doodle is a delight due to their intelligence and trainability, yet it’s essential to remember that they don’t arrive knowing everything from day one. Being ready to tackle tasks like potty training, crate training, socialization, and basic obedience training from an early age is crucial. These efforts lay the foundation for positive behaviors and aid the new puppy in acclimating to its new environment and family.
